Hotel Development in New York

In 2010, New York city set a record for hotel rooms added and hotel rooms sold, with an average occupancy rate of 85%.

Last year over 30 new properties opened their doors to New York city visitors adding more than 6200 rooms to accommodate the increasing tourist arrivals in the city.

Double Digit Passenger Growth for Fiji’s Air Pacific

Air Pacific has managed to double the number of sold passenger tickets this month on its direct services between Hong Kong and Nadi, Fiji. The airline's number will have been boosted by, among other things, the Hong Kong Sevens, which took place this past weekend, and which always attracts a good number of vocal Fiji supporters who travel there to lift their national team and have a great weekend with it.

Since December 2010, Air Pacific has been operating a direct flight three times per week between Hong Kong and Fiji. As a result of this success to date, Air Pacific is optimistic of further growth in the Hong Kong and China markets through its marketing investment with Tourism Fiji and collaboration with other airlines.

Qatar Airways to Launch Flights to Kolkata, Oslo and Sofia

Qatar Airways is to add three cities in India, Norway and Bulgaria to its rapidly growing global network during the second half of 2011, as part of a continued expansion strategy focused on new routes and capacity increases.

Daily flights to the eastern Indian city of Kolkata, formerly known as Calcutta, will be launched on 27 July 2011 taking Qatar Airways’ capacity in India to 95 services a week spread across 12 cities.

The 2011 directory, featuring over 350 pages has been restyled both visually and editorially to create a publication that will make a worthy addition to any coffee table or bookshelf.

Hotel Revenue and Reservations Continue Growth

The hotel industry continued to recover in January 2011 with strong growth in both global hotel revenue and bookings, according to data from Pegasus Solutions’ The Pegasus View.

Driven by demand and assisted by rate growth, business travel revenue rose by more than +40 percent over January of last year, while leisure revenue jumped nearly +15 percent over the same period in 2010.
