Pan Pacific Acquires Hilton Melbourne Airport Hotel in Australia

Pan Pacific Hotels Group has entered into a conditional sale and purchase agreement to acquire the Hilton Melbourne Airport hotel in Australia.

Currently owned by Mulpha Australia Limited and managed by Hilton Hotels & Resorts, the Hilton Melbourne Airport hotel is the only airport hotel in Australia that enjoys direct connectivity with the terminal building.

Sofitel Centara Hua Hin Sponsors Royal Trophy Golf Championship

Sofitel Centara Grand Resort & Villas Hua Hin has signed on as one of the official sponsors of the Royal Trophy golf championship, which will be staged from 7-9 January 2011.

The championship, the fifth in the series, will be held at the Black Mountain Golf Club in the coastal town of Hua Hin.

Good Prospects for Europe’s Travel Industry

This year there was a slight upturn in Europe’s tourism sector, which however will only slowly recover from the aftermath of the global recession next year. 2010 was a year in which Europe’s travel industry reported stable business. At the same time it must now accept that shorter trips and reduced spending have become the norm. These are the findings of the ITB World Travel Trends Report, which is based on an extract of the European Travel Monitor and forecasts by more than 50 tourism experts and scientists from around the world. The report is compiled by IPK International and commissioned by ITB Berlin.

New Hotel in Brazil to Join Great Hotels of the World Luxury Collection

Great Hotels of the World will increase its presence in South America when the Dom Pedro Laguna Beach Villas, Golf & Spa Resort opens on 17 December 2010, following two years of development at a cost of €20 million.

The newly-built resort which is a member of Great Hotels of the World Luxury Collection is the first five-star hotel of the Aquiraz Riviera and is 40km from Fortaleza International Airport in the state of Ceará, Brazil.

The new 5-star Matthan hotel in Bangalore has joined Worldhotels.

Matthan is the debut hospitality venture of Sterling’s Mac Group, which operates over 250 fast-food restaurants across India and west Asia.
